Now that I am blogging about genealogy, I decided that I should attend a genealogy convention. Being of German-Russian descent on one side, I looked around and found that the German from Russian Heritage Society is having their 46th annual convention.
I immediately registered. My sister agreed to go along with me and we are off on a road trip. (Does anyone else enjoy a good road trip?)
I’ll be attending workshops on Friday and Saturday. Look at all the presentations I have to choose from.
Each day we were offered the opportunity to purchase the ‘kucken and coffee’ food choice. (Kuchen is the German word for cake.) Well, duh. Kucken was a favorite of ours growing up. My mom had several flavors that she made including prune (tastes way better than it sounds), cheese, and a variety of fruits. I even make it occasionally. But the rule is, never turn down an opportunity for kuchen.
Are any of you going to be there? Let me know and maybe we can meet up and share the adventure!
